Douglas James Butterwick 1952 ~ 2009 Running rivers and Jack Daniels are two things that describe Douglas James Butterwick. A most beloved husband, a fantastic father, and a trustworthy friend to all, passed away when he suffered a heart attack while swimming Monday evening March 2, 2009. Doug was born March 25, 1952 to parents James and Betty Butterwick. Being third born out of four children, he has two sisters, Lynn and Kathy, and one brother, Roger. He graduated from Baldwin Wallace College where he made life long friendships and met the love of his life, Carolyn Schaaf. His career with LONG Building Environments as a sales professional spanned more than 30 years. Douglas James is survived by his two daughters Adrienne and Lindsay, his wife Carolyn, and his playful pup Layla. Among all others, he has an extremely large number of close friends that all meant the world to him. "Dougy," or "Buddy Love" to some, found solitude in working in his yard, throwing a tennis ball for Layla, having drinks with good friends, and shooting a couple games of pool. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Utah Chapter of Nature Conservancy, 559 E So. Temple, SLC, UT 84102. A celebration of his life is being planned. On that note, take a shot of Jack Daniels in memory of Doug, and remember all the good times you had with him. Peace and thank you to all.
